Bush endorses 'intelligent design'
Contends theory should be taught with evolution
By Ron Hutcheson, Knight Ridder | August 2, 2005

"I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought," Bush said. "You're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, the answer is yes."

The National Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science have both concluded that there is no scientific basis for intelligent design and oppose its inclusion in school science classes.

"The claim that equity demands balanced treatment of evolutionary theory and special creation in science classrooms reflects a misunderstanding of what science is and how it is conducted," the academy said in a 1999 assessment. "Creationism, intelligent design, and other claims of supernatural intervention in the origin of life or of species are not science because they are not testable by the methods of science."

3. Different schools of thought...
So Bush just opened public school doors to Holocaust deniers, the flat-earth society and moon landing hoax theorists. And that's just the beginning. "Class, tomorrow KKK Grand Wizard Bob Bucktooth is going to teach us about the other side of civil rights."

7. Why can't anybody else see that?
Once you bend the rules, it's no longer science.

4. "...expose people to different schools of thought"
Sounds good to me! I'll start organizing the atheists to be ready to present our school of thought in the churches by September. This is great. I applaud the President for such a far-sighted policy!

6. Oh! Even better,
turn Tom Cruise and the Scientologists loose on them.

Faith-based science has no place in school.
Anything that is based on faith cannot even be considered science.

11. I'm a Catholic who believes in a mixture of evolution and creationism...
as well as a student in a middle school who, though I share views of both beliefs, think this endorsement is completely stupidity.

12. A very wise student.
This imbecile will make sure public education is turned over to the reichwing, just like everything else.
He owes them, this is payback.
