Lost whale swims further inland
A whale stranded in the River Thames has been found further inland, causing renewed concerns about its health.
The 16-18ft (5m) northern bottle-nosed whale was spotted early on Saturday in the Battersea area - the furthest upstream it has swum.

Tony Woodley, of British Divers Marine Life Rescue Group, said the whale was seen just before 0100 GMT.

Rescuers hoped it would reach the sea again believing it reached Greenwich, but the sighting was later doubted.

2. The bad news is that the whale may not survive his sojourn, the good ...
news is that the river is relatively clean and is teeming with fish.

4. Aw hell, it's probably time they hauled it out of the water for a checkup
I saw on BBC earlier that it appeared to be injured (perhaps bleeding), but had turned around back toward the ocean. If it's travelling farther upstream again, they should probably check it out, then reintroduce it back at the mouth of the Thames.

6. They have now - it's condition is worsening
and they are contemplating releasing it near the mouth of the Thames estuary, if it's up to it.
