NEW photo of Saturn - AMAZING!!!
Edited on Sun Oct-15-06 12:27 PM by file83
From this article at Nature.com:

The Cassini spacecraft, which is in orbit around Saturn, was in Saturn's shadow for about 12 hours. The sun is behind Saturn in this photo. So, in a way, this is like a solar eclipse for Cassini - very cool!!

Edit: Hi-resolution version available here! (Thanks to "tridim"!)

1. How beautiful. And I can't help but be struck by how this puts things in
perspective.

Space and time are infinite.

Thank you for this post. For some reason it just made my Sunday.

4. Why, why, why do they never give us a hi-res version of these pics?

Tell me that wouldn't make a perfect desktop pic. Too bad it's so damn small.

Edit: Oops, just found the big pic here: http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA08329

13. Very pretty but...
..what I'd really like is that beauty to be seen directly by human eyes. *hint hint nudge nudge*
