White House Cuts Hubble Servicing Mission from 2006 Budget Request

WASHINGTON – The White House has eliminated funding for a mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope from its 2006 budget request and directed NASA to focus solely on de-orbiting the popular spacecraft at the end of its life, according to government and industry sources.

They tried to axe it a year ago, and caused an uproar. So they backed off until after the election.

And now.... whack!

It's not like this option will save a tremendous amount of money. It will still be horrendously expensive just to ditch Hubble safely. This is a lose-lose situation.

yesterday? Wouldn't want to look out there though...the damn phony religious nut case.

When I took the poll (MSNBC?) 60% of the respondents wanted to send the shuttle to fix it.

no heaven now, can we.

Hubble is some of the best money spent.

We need to raise a ruckus about there being an almost unlimited amount of money for genocide in Iraq but knowledge and education keeps getting cut.
