1. Blood moons are rare, but not mysterious
They are common during certain types of lunar eclipses, where Earth's atmosphere refracts sunlight and it is mostly red that illuminates the moon. Particulates in the air -- dust, volcanic ash, pollution -- can have the effect of tinting or refracting moonlight so it appears red.

That is definitely a nice image, though, regardless of the why.

2. Just read some poetry to my Great Grandchild today and it included
that old axiom. Any truth in it?

There's not a full moon tonight.

We've been swimming and other activities for the last couple of hours tonight. There's a nice moonlight, but no full moon.

Cool pic, though.

7. SPACE WEATHER
http://www.spaceweather.com/

Last Thursday, June 12th, Andrew Brown witnessed a lovely solar eclipse over London. No one else saw it? Obviously, they weren't standing in the right spot.

Brown explains: "For three days every June, the setting sun aligns itself with a distant Astra / Sky TV satellite dish to create a false solar eclipse!"

:)

9. Relatively common in West Texas
The cause here is dirt in our atmosphere.

Another side effect of all the dirt is that Texas has some of the most spectacularly colorful sunsets you can imagine.
