This technology was presented yesterday in Sydney.
Could be very handy in speeding up the net.

3. If there's a 50% overall improvement, it just means
that the files we all want to download will be 60% bigger, and there'll be 60% more of us.

The improvement will lead to slower download/upload times. :-)
