I'm kind of shocked at the lack of news on the official sites. Last time I checked the countdown (last week) it was at 4 days. Now it's at 27 days. http://www.lhcountdown.com/

What the heck is going on?

Did they already turn it on and go back in time or something? :)

1. I heard it would be August 1st
And http://www.misunderstooduniverse.com/France_Builds_Doomsday_Machine.htm">the world will be destroyed by being sucked into a black hole created by the device. (There's a cool video there, too.)

They had intended to build such a device in Texas, but they realized that Texas had aready produced a "hole" with the capability of destroying the world.

5. They turned it on, created a worm, and we went back in time.
This time, it won't be turned for another month.

6. We all died...
...or didn't.

With no one around, who can make the observation and collapse the wave function?

Looks like it will be as late as October before 10TeV reached. 14TeV won't be attempted until 2009.
