Nice photo of the Endeavor launch that took place Nov. 14

Mike Deep of Titusville, Florida, took the picture on Nov. 14th shortly after space shuttle Endeavour executed a spectacular after-dark launch from Kennedy Space Center. "The combination of the launch, a nearly full moon, high cirrus clouds, and some low haze made for an amazing show," he says. "There was even a brief moondog ten minutes before launch. I used a Canon 30D to take these pictures."

Endeavour is now en route to the ISS where it will dock and deliver more than 14,000 pounds of supplies and equipment. The station will receive a new toilet and kitchenette, extra sleeping quarters, and a waste recycling system necessary to expand the crew from three to six in the spring of 2009. NASA describes the mission as "home improvement."

1. Cool! Had I not been sick with the flu I would have stepped outside
to watch it. Night launches are the best!

2. Track it here in real time
The site knows your location per your IP address, and will chart when it and the ISS passes over your city. If you've never watched it move across the night sky, you're in for a real treat.

Click the STS126 or ISS link, then click "5 day predictions" to see available times and direction of passes. Click "draw" to view the pass on the map. The visible part is shown as a yellow arc, a blue line is when the sun is too far below the horizon to reflect.

There aren't any visible passes on the East coast this week, but I'm sure there will be in time for the docking.

3. They seem to think I'm in Manhattan...
...next to the Empire State Building!

I'll have to correct the lat and long.
