Stephen Hawking accepts post at Waterloo institute...
http://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/544641

WATERLOO, Ont. – Canada's profile in the international physics community got a huge boost today as renowned "superstar" cosmologist Stephen Hawking accepted a research post at the country's "crown jewel" of theoretical physics study.

Hawking will hold the title of distinguished research chair at the prestigious Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. The role will see him make regular visits to the southwestern Ontario city, beginning next summer.

This is very cool. Waterloo is about an hour from Toronto. Fingers are crossed that he'll give a public lecture once in a while.

2. Hawking Joining in with U of Waterloo
Yes, U of Waterloo astrophysics had a leading role in forming The Cosmology Group, and international group of
leading cosmologists joined together to do some of the mathematics for a 5D space-time.

We didn't know it would be U of Waterloo that would take up the task, but some of us Usenet freaks were
bandying about the idea of the necessity for a 5D cosmology on sci.physics back in mid 1990s, and having
some fun with America's Dr. Jack Sarfatti, an incredibly astute, but highly opinionated American theoretical
physicist who was located in California. One thing leads to another.

The 5D cosmology is actually essential for breaking out of our confinement in this remote corner of the
universe, where planet Earth is precariously in orbit around Sol. If everything goes as I think it should and
will go, the U of Waterloo team will build the fundamental mathematical basis for practical interstellar travel.

So there isn't a top ranking theoretical physicist who won't want to come on board there.
It's the entire future.

Cheers.
