Newsflash: Sex Doesn't Stop At 45
By Intern Katy, 4:30 PM on Wed Jul 29 2009, 2,022 views (Edit, to draft, Top, Slurp)

A recent study of 2,000 women from the U.S. shows that 60 percent of the participants had been sexually active in the last three months, and half of them enjoyed it! Should this really be a surprise?

The study, conducted by the University of California at San Francisco, asked women aged 45-80 to report on their sex lives, their sexual enjoyment, and (if applicable), their reasons for abstaining. They found that out of the 60 percent who were currently considered sexually active, half reported "moderate to high" levels of satisfaction, and nearly a third of women 65 or older had engaged in sexual activity in the past three months. African-American women reported higher levels of desire, but lower levels of sexual activity than white women, and sexually active Latina women were more likely to report "at least moderate sexual satisfaction."

They also questioned them on their level of interest in sex, UPI reports:

2. We have no problems once we're IN the bedroom.
It's the whole "getting TO the bedroom" thing that's the problem.

I blame severe overwork (her job (the county) has no funds to hire, so they make existing workers "cross train") on this. Forced celibacy is yet another way Corporate America ruins lives and destroys souls.

5. Age might not be a barrier
but marriage, and even living together long enough will do that.

9. This isn't very encouraging.
"Of the 60 percent who were currently considered sexually active, half reported "moderate to high" levels of satisfaction."

That means 70% of women over 45 have not had even moderate satisfaction in 3 months.

Wonder if its physiology, self-image, partner problems or what that keeps half of sexually active women in this age range from enjoying it.
