Collisions between our universe&others may have left "bruises" in a map of cosmic radiation.
If our universe was hit by another bubble universe, the impact would release colossal bursts of energy. If this occurred before inflation ended in our patch of the universe, it could leave an imprint that might still be detectable today. Now Stephen Feeney of University College London and colleagues say they may have spotted such imprints in the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the all-sky glow that comes from photons emitted when the universe was less than 400,000 years old.

5. Can I apply for a transfer to a universe where GHW Bush didn't make it out of the plane?
I figure it would be a much different universe if he went down with the rest of his crew...

7. This is about Linde bubbles within the same universe. Not parallel universes within hyperspace.
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 08:37 AM by DetlefK
A Linde bubble is born, when a part of the universe expands faster than speed-of-light. This causes an event horizon that cuts off this part of the universe in terms of separated causality. It's like cutting a patch out of the middle of a carpet. The patch is a new carpet/universe. So what happens, when two such carpets/bubbles/universes happen to touch each other?
