SCIENTISTS have created eerie zombie dogs, reanimating the canines after several hours of clinical death in attempts to develop suspended animation for humans..........snip

During the procedure blood is replaced with saline solution at a few degrees above zero. The dogs' body temperature drops to only 7C, compared with the usual 37C, inducing a state of hypothermia before death.

snip....

Damaged blood vessels and tissues can then be repaired via surgery. The dogs are brought back to life by returning the blood to their bodies, giving them 100 per cent oxygen and applying electric shocks to restart their hearts.

Tests show they are perfectly normal, with no brain damage.

1. That is so freakin' creepy...
I bet people are lining up for that experience.

Well, anything that could help deep space exploration should be investigated, I suppose.

2. Strange but good news.
Oddly, when this was posted in LBN, the moderators moved it to The Lounge. I guess they didn't believe that this actually happened.

3. could be the Zombie in the headline?
The walking dead does sound like a Lounge topic! I like attention grabbing headlines, though. My proclivity is to click on the more outrageous ones, though I don't go to the lounge. Say the picture of the dog kinda gets to me too. Nice nice pooch. If this was used a lot we could have a heck of a lot of near death experiences and do some research on the topic. I nominate Cheney as the first person to try this. He needs those electric shocks to his heart anyway so I am sure he wouldn't mind.

4. It had a different headline from a different source.
But I suspect it was the headline, as the source posted in LBN is a science news outlet, so clearly whomever made the change did not look into the matter very deeply.

6. Is that what they did to Cheney?
It would explain a lot.
