3. I chimed in.
It's like battling right-wing talking points. They keep repeating "you need meat to survive" over and over again, and it STILL is no more true than the last time I shot down that load of bullshit.

5. The "check your teeth" comments always get me
look at a TRUE omnivore's teeth; raccoons and bears. Their canines are four times the size of ours!

The only mammals that can't live without meat are cats, mongoose, and hyena.

4. I just filled up my "ignore" list
with those vile people. The first one was just sickening; so proud to have killed that deer, then he goes on about how he doesn't believe in causing needless suffering to any living creature. He's a trophy hunter; otherwise, he wouldn't have had that photo taken.

Those people ARE NOT progressives!

on my ignore list, I can't tolerate people that kill animals.

9. It is sad.
There was also a thread in the lounge, and I said there, I don't care if others eat meat. I really don't. Of course I would like everyone to go veggie, but I don't force it on anyone.

There is a bunch of steak houses in my town, and that's about it. There is one mexican cafe near the university campus that has vegan options, and that's where I like to go. I usually end up at Bob Evans or somewhere similar though when meeting up with other people and I eat a bowl of fruit. I don't complain, that's my choice. They can eat what they want. It's when meat eaters openly and intentionally try to hurt the feelings of veggies that I get upset.

The jerk with the pic of the dead deer for instance. That makes me sick. I can remember being about 7 and in the backseat of the car. Some pickup with a couple of dead deer drove past my window. Well I was inconsolable. I still feel the same way, and don't want to see it. I sit in the chair in my breakfast room and watch the deer eat in my backyard. They look right at me and aren't at all scared. I could watch them all day. People who consider them "game" are sickening.

Sorry, rant over.

7. I am back from class now, and reading through it.
Makes me want to leave DU. These people are as compassionate as * and his administration.
My ignore list will be updated as well.

I know it sucks but at least we have a little safe space here. You've just got to be careful about how much of that stuff you expose yourself to, because there's really no end to it. I'm glad you're here.

edit: typos!

10. I posted, but I don't expect much
Most of the time those flamewars are nothing but hyper-defensive meat-eaters circle-jerking. Since I prefer to go at it through logic instead of emotion, they either don't pay attention or respond with more silly "tasty animals" crap.
