Monkey Rights Supporters Unveil Museum Plan

MADISON, Wis. - Two animal rights groups are trying to make a big statement on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.

The Primate Freedom Project and the Madison-based Alliance for Animals announced Saturday they're working to open a museum detailing monkey suffering -- between two primate labs on campus.

The groups are close to buying a set of sheds between the two labs. They said the sheds will serve as a sort of permanent protest against the horrors that go on in the labs.

3. Jeez, I would have expected that thread to get a little more attention
Maybe if someone had mentioned the Holocaust comparison.

"Joe Kemnitz is the director of one of the labs. He said experiments on primates can lead to giant advances in medicine, and he's afraid the groups may use the museum as a base to attack the labs or hurt his workers."

That paragraph in the museum article made me roll my eyes and shake my head. They "can" lead to *giant* advances? Based on what proof is able to predict this?

Last night I was looking at the reading list at the Primate Freedom Project, and when I started looking up books at amazon.com I noticed a review by Rick Bogle of PFP. So I read all of his reviews and now I have a big new reading list.

I also read the 2004 Tour diary. Now I know where the labs are. :(
