Hiya everyone!
Well, I'm going on a several day fishing trip with my brothers and father for old time's sake, and it should be a lot of fun.
That said, BLEH!!!! Man, when I was a kid I had a hard enough time seeing a fish die (an early indication that I was born to be a vegetarian), but now when I have more than just emotional issues with it, it's gonna be worse.
That said, I'm sure I'll have a great time just sitting around enjoying nature, but I was wondering if there's any kind of fish feeding situation that can be done. You know, like fishing without a hook or something. Catch and release? - NOT INTERESTED, but feeding, and feeling the nibble on the line, that might be okay, but it might also might help lure the fish into the deathtrap the rest of my family will be laying for them.
I'm sure other people have had situations like this too. Any thoughts?

I would think fishing from a boat, or in a river you wouldn't have much success with the feeding idea. My guess is that a river current would tend to pull the food off whatever you had it attached to; same thing with the false current of pulling a line along behind a boat. Although that would kind of depend on how 'fast' the 'current' was too.
Bank fishing on a lake, you could probably do something. My first thought would be to choose bait/food that no one else is using to minimize the deathtrap lure effect. Second thought would be to mosey on a ways around the lake so y'all are not all 'fishing' in the same spot.
Then it comes down to what bait/food you want to use. I would think running some line through a sewing needle, then running the needle through the food, and tieing it off and keeping the needle with you would possibly work. If you're not going to try to reel in fish, you can use the lightest line you can find, which would make threading it through a needle easier.
I've gone fishing, but never had a license, so pretty much just always sat around visiting, and watching the family fish.
At any rate, I hope you enjoy the scenery, and the family time. :hi:
edit: sorry for all the depends/maybe/suppose qualifiers littered through out this post, but I really only have fishing-spectator experience, so I'm just guessing based on observation.

2. If there are any catfish where you are fishing, |
|
you could always go "noodling." That's catching catfish with the bare hands. That way you could just let the fish go.
