Another idol bites the dust (Serena Williams)
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 10:33 AM by SiouxJ
I've always been a fan and so when I saw the reality show "Venus and Serena" was on last night, I took a gander. She has this little Jack Russell (think that's what it is) and all I can say is I wouldn't want to be that poor little dog! She punishes it by putting it in a duffel bag and at one point she yelled at the poor little thing so loudly and forcefully that it literally pissed itself! All the poor thing did to warrant this behavior was get into some leftover turkey that it found in her hotel room. It proceeded to hide bits of it in the furniture (that's what dogs do with bones - it's a natural behavior). Serena walked in the room and went off on a rant, saying, "I hate this dog" and then she chastised it for doing this natural behavior. Someone needs to tell her that the dog is bored and needs some bones or treats that it can hide so it won't go getting into stuff she doesn't want it to. That's all she would need to do. Well that and maybe keep the stuff out of reach that she doesn't want it to get into (duh!).

Of course later she was telling the poor dog that she can't stay mad at her and that she would probably break down and let her out of the bag instead of leaving her in it all night. She then went off about how much she loved her.

I've followed the Williams sisters' careers since they were kids and have always rooted for them but now I guess I'll root for Serena's opponent, whomever that may be. ;-) Sounds childish I know but it will make me feel better to see her lose. Maybe that's why she has been lately (karma you know). Venus (at this point) is still cool with me but Serena needs to grow up if she wants to have a dog.

Just needed to get that off my chest ;-). Thanks!

1. Rich, successful and a good athlete but
she doesn't deserve a pet. Sad.

Oh and :hi: ! Hope all is going well.

4. Yeah, I think she's just got too much going on in her life
to slow down and think about how she could better handle the situation. I've been there before too but, well, you had to see it.

Hi to you too! All is well thank you. Hope the same is true for you.

:hi:

3. I know, my new dogs are really good (house trained-wise)
but my last dog had some accidents in his old age. I never yelled at him like I saw her yell but I would get annoyed. I also would never put him in a bag for doing it!

8. I guess so
I just keep thinking about that poor little dog spending the night in a duffel bag. Told myself maybe it just looked like a duffel and maybe it's really a pet carrier with venting etc. I can only hope.

10. That sucks.
You have to wonder if she'd treat her pet that way in front of the camera, how'd she'd treat it off. On the other hand, maybe she didn't want to appear "not to be in control" in front of the camera, so it brought out the control freak in her.

I have to say though that abusive people are often all "nice nice" and apologetic after they've been abusive. The classic wife batterer brings his wife flowers to make up.

My opinion of her started going down when I saw her in People magazine taking an Evian bath.

Serena Williams Christens World's Most Expensive Bath, the $5,000 ``Evian Experience'' at SoBe's Hotel Victor

MIAMI BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2005--Tennis superstar Serena Williams took the premier plunge on February 23, in the Hotel Victor's new Evian Experience. At $5,000 a pop and available exclusively in the $6,000 per night penthouse suite of the hip, new Miami Beach hotspot, the Evian Experience is the world's most expensive bath.

"I could feel the difference from the moment I stepped in - the water felt so pure," said Williams, who was surrounded in the tub by fuchsia and orange Gerber Daisies. "Also - Evian is a sponsor of the US Open, which I've won the last few years, so I guess you can say the water has been lucky for me."

Complete with two hours of customizable spa services and a luxurious food and beverage component, the experience includes:

-- 350 gallon, infinity-edge tub with over 1000 liters of Evian Natural Spring Water, the world's leading premium water brand, to revitalize the skin and purify the senses.

-- Colorful Gerber Daisies drift in the water while illuminating candles bring a renewed sense of self.

-- While your bath is being drawn to the ideal temperature, the Spa V team entices you with a blissful selection of spa treatments.

-- Hotel Victor chef, James Wierzelewski, enhances the treatments with culinary creations such as Smoked Salmon Lollipops, Potted Cru of Foie Gras and a signature hotel sweet platter, the Seven Sins of Chocolate.

-- To add some "bubbles" to the bath, a bottle of chilled Krug Grand Cuvee is served with fresh strawberries and sliced mango.

11. I know. I was thinking that too (wonder what goes on . . .
when there are no cameras present).

Giving her the benefit of the doubt, she injured her ankle on the day the incident was filmed, which put her out of competition for awhile. I'm sure that made her quite upset and touchy. But still, the bag bugs me. That seems to be her typical way of punishing that poor little dog.

That bath is ridiculous. I do get the impression they are complete spoiled brats now. They even said they can't imagine having to live the way they did growing up now. They definitely aren't the good role models I'm sure The Family Channel thought they were. Serena bitches and moans about having to work out etc. It all makes sense now; why she's had so much trouble winning. The fame and money are more desirable to her than playing tennis at this point. Since she has other means of making the big $$$, tennis is not her number one priority anymore. I don't pity her at all anymore when she loses. Her competition is obviously working way harder than she is. They still have the passion and she just wants to party.

12. I've seen sudden wealth do that to people
I've told you before of my former friends who put their two dogs down (a ten year old lab and an eight year old lab/beagle mix) simply because they didn't want the trouble of moving them out of state-then they bought their young children a puppy to "make up for it"!!! :grr: those people had grown up poor-one in a trailer park-and were suddenly making $350,000 a year in the film industry with added bonus checks (about a half mil a year in the end-not Williams money, but huge for most of us). Once they had the money it became the primary focus of their lives. They obsessed about buying expensive electronics, jewelry, building their McMansion...meanwhile, the abilities that got them there suffered and the dogs, once beloved, were forced to spend most of their days in crates in the garage because they dug up their new and perfect Chemlawn.     Makes me feel pretty damn violent just thinking about it! They, too, would gush about how much they "loved" their pets (with the caveat that they did not, of course, love them like they loved their kids or other people. these were fundies, after all). money corrupts often just as much as power; completely. Such people should never be permitted to keep an animal in their homes, IMO-to them it's nothing more than an accessory like their $10,000 watches.

14. Karma has bitten them in the ass since then
I had argued with them about the dogs long before they had them put down-an act which came as a complete shock to me and ended our friendship (naturally). I later told another animal loving friend and former coworker of ours about what had happened. He's a well known gossip in the film industry, and he ran with the story. The ex-friend later called me, furious that I had "ruined" his reputation by telling the gossip about his dogs."Everyone at Disney and Dreamworks knows now! And Pixar! And Warner Brothers! Hell, even the people at Lucasfilm know!" Too damn bad, I told him, he ruined his own fucking reputation by acting like an inhumane monster! Now he can no longer work for any major motion picture studio because there are too many in charge who care about animals and who know what he did. He's struggling for work and the McMansion and all their finery are now long gone. Karma WILL find such people in the end!

15. I remember when you told me about them
It is beyond me how anyone can be so selfish; not to mention heartless. Amazing. You think you know people and then you find out you don't, huh?
