I started volunteering at my vet's
office this past Saturday :7 It was great! I am working on socializing a group of three, 14-week old kittens named Wacko, Yacko, and Dot. (What names, huh?!) They just about trashed the examining room we were in! :P I do think we made some progress this weekend. The little girl, Dot, and one of the boys, Yacko, are both terribly afraid of human contact. I was able to get Yacko to sit on my lap for a little bit. I was also able to hold the other boy, Wacko, for quite some time. The girl, Dot, is gonna take some work, however.

They are so adorable. They all came from the same litter, two of them have tails like a Manx and the other one has a normal tail.

I go back for more on 8/20/05 ~ I can't wait!!
:bounce:

1. That sounds like a fun job to have.
The 20th? That's too long between visits!

My sister worked as a vet's assistant for awhile, but it didn't last very long. Too many unpleasant tasks you have to do. She did learn how to inject water though, which came in handy when we've had old and dehydrated cats.

7. Thanks!
It felt like time for something less depressing.

Plus, I love bunnies and real men. :D

3. Sounds awesome.
And I love the names. Taken from the Warner Bros. Animaniacs cartoon...

Good for you, volunteering to help out. Now THAT is direct action.

6. I miss the Animaniacs. What a great show.
But naming the kittens after them is inspired!

4. Thanks, you guys!
It is really cool to see how everything works "behind the scenes" at the vets office. I want these little guys (and all the others) to have a chance to get adopted into a nice home. So many animals suffer because of human folly, and I want to do a little bit to counter that.

You guys are the best!!

:hi:
