Anthony Bourdain
I just learned over in the Lounge that he's got a new show! It's on the Travel Channel, Mondays 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Paris and Iceland. I thought they were hysterical. You gotta catch it.

Next week is New Jersey, my birthplace and the home of fine American cuisine. Gotta love those fried hot-dogs! But with 24 hour diners and the best Pizza in the world how can he go wrong. It's gonna be a hoot!

7. Only for the entertainment value

Although I've eaten at Les Halles, it wasn't memorable. I know he's a controversial figure amongst some food professionals for his exposing Restaurant practices. I've never read his book.

I think he's an interesting character and his type of humor is something very familiar to me. He reminds me of folks I grew up with. He cracks me up. The Iceland show had me rolling around on the bed hysterical. I can't believe that he has no fear in what he eats. No way would I try the petrified whale meat cured in poison and buried for 6 months. (I honestly don't know if that's what it was but I thought they described as something like that) SO and I were calling it Icelandic Kimchi.

13. I like Les Halles,
though I didn't realize that it was "his" restaurant. I used to live around the corner from the one on Park Avenue in the 20s, so I'd go there often for Mussels and Pommes Frites!

And the chocolate mousse! YUMMY!

3. I've never caught his show,
but I loved his book.

BTW, does anyone remember the name of the restaurant he worked at? The one where he was head chef & where he worked when he wrote the book?

best

6. Les Halles
I've eaten there. I don't know if it's open any longer----

It was a nice evening. Good food but honestly don't remember what I ate. So it was only memoriable for the Anthony Bourdain connection. He wasn't there the night I visited so I couldn't scope him out. (Not that I would do that anyway :))

9. I want to NOT like him, but I just can't help myself.
He says horrible things about celebrity chefs I like, but he's got that classic bad-boy swagger that's just irresistable to me; confident, funny, irreverent, and very, very sexy.

Did you see the Cook's Tour show he did in Mexico where he ate an iguana tamale (and then pronounced it the worst thing he'd ever eaten in his life)? HILARIOUS.

10. Same here!
I'm older than him and was also born and rasied in NYC. I want pinch him on the arm real hard and tell him to knock it off. But I like how he goes all over the world and talks about the meals and atmosphere in such a way that I want to be right there. He's a snot but he also has gift that can't be denied.

11. Yes, very, very sexy. There may be a reason he's been undressed
a number of times in the first two episodes. And I hope that doesn't change!

That's mud he's covered with in this pic!

12. he's fearless and hysterical. I remember a Mexican show he did
where he drank something that he said 'had the consistency of snot' and insects. He was barfing his guts out and doesn't hide his annihilation. He's tremendous.

15. That was his funniest speech.
I think he said something about wanting to turn his tongue inside-out.

I am so loving his new show. Being a Jersey girl by birth, the one about New Jersey had me rolling on the floor.

The new shows started up again this week.......
