Have you ever tried whole wheat pasta ?
I tried it tonight. We like it.

It costs $1.49 for 13 1/2 oz instead of .50 for 1 lb of regular pasta.

I boiled it al dente and added a stick of real butter and plated it with mushrooms and Parmesan cheese. I made garlic bread with LOTS of garlic to go with it too.

1. Costco sold a whole wheat ravioli a few months ago
And no kidding, it was to die for. I think it was basil/cheese stuffed. Very filling, I think I had only 5 of them with sauce...

and yes I love WW pasta, the nutty, earthy texture....good with the minimum of sauce.

2. Do not like WW pasta.
I dunno why not. I eat mostly whole grains. Maybe I should try it again, see if my attitude has changed.

4. Actually that pasta pictured is a whole wheat blend
which also has some white flour in it.

5. Whole wheat is usually a blend.
If I recall correctly, whole wheat flour is nearly always blended with white flour because the white flour has more gluten.

Most recipes made with pure whole wheat flour are bound to be heavy and unpalatable.

9. Hodgson Mills pasta
is 100% whole wheat. I think its okay. Besides its covered in sauce and other stuff. My only objection is I like pasta cooked al dente and you can't get that with whole wheat pasta.

6. Will have to try it.
I've been using ww tortillas for a year now, and I've decided that I like them better than the white tortillas.

I'll have to give the pasta a shot.

7. I like it but it sure does seem to cook faster than regular pasta
Or is it just me? The first time I cooked it, it was kinda mushy.

10. We've tried it before
and it was pretty mushy and tasteless. When hubby was diagnosed with diabetes, the nutritionist recommended a pasta made with artichokes, it was actually pretty good. It digests more slowly than regular pasta and raises the glycemic index moe slowly as well.

11. Had some years ago
I think Trader Joe's carried it. I liked it too. It had a nice flavor and texture.

12. Another alternative grain
Quinoa pasta, while difficult to find, is great. It's lighter than wheat or rice pasta so it works well with really delicate sauces. Just thought I'd add my $.02. :)

WW pasta works well with heavier substantial sauces like marinara though.

13. That looks really good
I confess I bought some at Trader Joe's a few years ago and did not like it, but everyone seems to have it now. Barilla has even come out with one, and I love Barilla pasta so I'm tempted to try it again.
