11. I'm doing that tomorrow......
I haven't been in the mood for cooking lately. I've been pulling stuff out of the freezer and yesterday I even resorted to Hot Dogs. (not usually my style for a proper dinner)

I have to go get my child and the store near her school just got a shipment of Buffalo in. I'm thinking Buffalo burgers....

but it's almost soup and bread season again and life is good

as long as I stay out of Latest breaking news, or Gen. Disc. Politics or CNN

20. It is true.
All the tidy drawers and cabinets are a complete disaster again. But this time I only need to straighten them up, not totally reorganize everything. What I really want to do is start working on the bathrooms. But I don't guess we can post about that in here. Something about bathrooms and cooking. Yuck.

I also gained five pounds after last winter's bake-a-thon. Only just lost it after much sweating and straining and many posts in exercise and fitness. So time to start again! :9 Much fun will be had by all :hi:

23. Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back! (Kotter)
Our weather is due to cool down again so I am in a recipe finding cooking mood. As soon as I get to the grocry store, I'll be in 7th heaven.

I still haven't tried making German potao salad, want to make brocolli and cheese soup and potato soup, and some sort of chicken casserole using white meat (boneless breasts).

Looking forward to your suggestions and such :)

34. Just so's you know,
it's been goofy here, and I haven't gotten to the PO, but, first thing next week - I think.

I'll keep you posted, kid. OK?

I have a great warm potato salad recipe, from the Time-Life Provincial France cookbook (this recipe has never made it out of the kitchen - we eat it all standing there, out of the bowl):

3 lbs. boiling potatoes, slices ¼ inch thick
boiling salted water
¼ cup chicken stock, fresh or canned
¼ wine vinegar, preferably white
½ tsp. dry mustard
½ to ¾ cup olive oil
2 Tbs. thinly sliced scallions, including some green tops
4 Tbs. finely chopped fresh parsley

Cook the potato slices in a 3- to 4-quart saucepan in boiling salted water to cover for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they are done but not at all overcooked. Drain them thoroughly in a sieve or colander and transfer them to a large mixing or serving bowl. Heat the chicken stock and pour it over the warm potatoes, tossing them very gently once or twice, and let stand for several minutes until the stock is completely absorbed.

In a small mixing bowl, stir the vinegar, salt and dry mustard together, add to the potatoes, and toss very gently again. Let the potatoes stand for a few minutes to absorb the seasoning, then pour in the olive oil and sprinkle in the scallions and parsley. Turn the potatoes gently to coat them with the oil and herbs.

it's a fascinating job, but it's a grinder esp when the Chief Justice dies in the middle of a natural catastrophy while two of the three admins are on vacation and half the mod crew took off on Labour Day.

I wouldn't have missed it though
