Best practices for food storage - where can I find information?
I've been looking around the web for best practices, but all I can find are survivalist and LDS stuff for long term food storage.

What I am looking for is information on each specific kind of food, and how best to store it in the fridge/freezer/root cellar, and something that IS pretty specific: not just "veggies can go in a plastic bag in the veggie bin in your fridge" but that will say "XXXX is best stored in the plastic bag it was in in the grocery store in the veggie bin of your fridge and will stay good and crisp for one week, and still be usable for soup for another week after that; but don't store in same tray with onions or beets because they will turn the XXXX brown, and don't store with peaches because the XXXX will cause the peaches to rot prematurely and turn into vicious garden gnomes".

That kind of information, which has detailed specifics on each fruit and vegetable and types of meats, and grains and honey and sugar and spices, both dry and fresh.

Anyone know of a good book or website with this kind of information? I've checked the CIA professional grade books at the local bookstore, but haven't seen anything about storage and physics of food.

anyway. :-)

I dont' have any books on anning or long term storage, either. This looks like the Bible of canning and preservation!
