I just made lavenderdiva's Chicken Divan recipe (sorta)

With apologies to lavenderdiva, I had to change the recipe a bit (don’t I always? :spank: )

Since I only had one small head of fresh broccoli that I needed to use up, I added a zucchini and I had about 1 cup of rice from the Chinese I did Sunday that if it didn’t get used would be a science experiment by this weekend. So I sprinkled that over the veggies before adding a half a chicken I had done in the crockpot this morning. I just love pulling out a frozen solid hunk of meat and throwing it in the crockpot before I leave for work. This ½ chicken slow cooked all day in a cup of turkey broth, poultry seasoning, ground rosemary, Mrs. Dash and a bit of garlic.

I made the sauce and topped it just like the written recipe and served it with my homemade bread (toasted)

YUMMMMY! Thanks Ldiva and sorry I tweaked it before trying it straight (which I usually try to do) but if my “adjusted” dish is any indication this is a keeper! :yourock:

Mr. Ketchup needed some comfort food today and this dish fit the bill.

1. SO glad you tried it!
and your variations sound delicious! It is a definite 'comfort' casserole, and very easy to make too! My mother used to make this dish frequently for us, and I still make it for my family. Its very easy to make, and if you are having a dinner buffet party, this is one elegant and easy dish to serve for that too. I usually serve it with steamed, buttered carrots and a salad. YUMMY!!!

I'm glad you tried it!! :hi:

2. just saw that thread...
...and recognized the recipe my MIL gave me a LONG time ago -- the only difference is that ours contains a goodly spoon of curry powder. It has been a family favorite since then. More recently, I have lightened up on the "goop" and increased the amount of broccoli. Still good; rarely any leftovers.
