2. Yes, starters for raspberry bushes.
The variety I chose gives a summer crop AND a fall crop, so I can have figs and raspberries together. Doesn't sound great, but I have been reading a gardening memoir, and the writer claims that it is a sublime combination.

I am thinking fig ice cream with fresh raspberries sprinkled on top........ Ahhhh, gardening dreams. The reality is hardly ever as good, but you never know, this year I might finally get it right.

I have also received my seeds for starting peppers and tomatoes. I will get them going under lights at the end of the month.

Longterm, I am planning an edible landscape in my backyard. A small vegetable garden, raspberries, blueberries and figs. I will wait for next year to plant the blueberries. I cut down some trash trees that were along the back fence, which is where I would like to plant them. I will need to dig out the roots before I can plant. I will save that project for next year.

3. We have quite a few raspberries and 4 blueberry bushes,
but no fig tree. I love figs so much. I have the raspberries that give 2 crops a year and they are great. We had a huge output last year, the biggest ever. They are soo wonderful.I make freezer jam with part of them and it is like eating fresh berries. Raspberries are so easy to grow.

4. I have "Heritage"
which should give two crops a year. I have always heard that raspberries were easy to grow and hard to ship. It was just the shipping problems that drove the price up. I am looking forward to some delicious berries in a few years!

5. oh, wow--keep us posted on how this goes!
When Mr. Shakespeare and I move into a house (hopefully by the end of the year), we're talking about using blueberries as shrubs in place of a fence.

My fig tree, which started as a 6" pitiful bare twig last year, is now three feet tall and loaded with buds just waiting for a nice stretch of warm weather to burst forth. I'm hoping I get to harvest a few this year!
