OK, note to self: We don't need any more groceries ever.
We combined two households into one this weekend, plus we entertained (twice) and with it came a large pantry stock and enough food in the fridge to feed everyone in the neighborhood for weeks.

I now have, in my fridge, ready to heat and eat, approximately:
• Two servings of Pud See Eew
• Three or four servings of Masaman Curry
• Six to eight servings of spaghetti and sundried tomato sauce
• Two or three servings of sweet-potato oven fries
• Three or four servings of roasted asparagus
• One serving French toast with berry compote (not sure how that'll reheat)
• Four servings of flan
• Two and a half quarts of matzoh ball soup (courtesy of my dad)

Plus a bowl of fresh berries, eight single-serve containers of assorted yogurt, one large container of plain yogurt, a melon of some sort, a bag of gala apples, half a bunch of celery, a bag of carrots, three oranges, and two pears (but no partridge or tree).

Criminy.

1. hehehe, it won't last as long as you think
ever have those shopping gliches where you buy an item every time you go to the store until there's 5 of them?

then you think "I'll never have to buy THAT again"

i did that with mustard, and now I'm out again........... how did THAT happen??

enjoy your leftovers and have fun getting the new place together, sounds like an exciting new chapter in your life!

3. I do that with brown sugar!
Every time I am at the market and decide to make something with brown sugar, I buy a box because I am always convinced I don't have any. I get home to find I usually have 3-1/2 boxes for that very reason!

4. Cinnamon and nutmeg
are my multiple buys. Wenever I bake or want to make a dessert that calls for these two spices, I can never remember to check the spice cupboard before I go to the store.

Consequently, in my spice cupboard, right now, I have four little tins of cinnamon and a bottle of cinnamon sticks, and three bottles of nutmeg and a little package of whole nutmegs I bought an an ethnic grocery.

D'oh! :crazy:

5. Side topic - brown sugar - how to keep it soft?
I always buy extra because I use it once in awhile, and it is hard as a rock many a time.

So far, this time I have it in the opened bag in an old margarine container, and it is doing better than it normally does.

7. Tupperware wil keep it soft. But any airtight container will
keep it nicely if it is soft when you put it in the container

9. I put an apple slce in it for a while..and then remove the apple
put it in a ziploc bag..

14. The real secret is to never actually buy brown sugar.
I MAKE my own brown sugar:

1 c. white sugar
2 T. molasses

Stir with fork until completely mixed. Store in tight container.

Don't make way more than you need. You can easily and quickly make more right away if you find yourself short.

10. I do that with grits & powdered sugar
I must have 4 boxes of grits and at least that many of powdered sugar.

8. mine is canned mushrooms, which I buy every time I go shopping
I tend to throw them into all sorts of things, and they don't spoil so not a bad thing.

chicken broth, canned diced tomatoes also come under that category.

13. Diced canned tomatoes. Every time I go to the
store. I'm afraid I'll run out and won't be able to make zucchini and tomatoes or spaghetti sauce.
