Poll question: Skippy? Jiff? Other?
I didn't have time for lunch today. So I ate a few spoonfuls. Right from the jar.

Creamy. The chunky stuff finds places to hide.

2. Smucker's natural or
the Peanut Butter Co. natural Crunch Time. I just had a tablespoon. I usually have some peanut butter as part of my breakfast to give me a bit of protein.

3. Mr K is a smooth Skippy man
I eat it so rarely, so his choice gets the cupboard space

4. Other. Natural.
I think we're using the Costco natural right now, but we'll go to local when that runs out. Though how local it really is when we have to import the peanuts, I can't say.

Skippy and Jiff are both too sweet for me. I want the sweet from the jelly.

Natural is not as smooth as Skippy and Jiff, but if Mr. P wants it extra chunky, we have a bag of chopped peanuts he can sprinkle on his sandwich.

16. Ohhhhhhhhh
I thought it was just me.

You know where peanuts are really good (the only item, in my opinion): Payday candy bars. Which I eat once a year, or so.

10. I make my own
or at least I did, before I broke my food processor. Don't worry, I broke the food processor trying to grind rock salt (not to eat, to make bath salts). I just ground peanuts and added a little peanut oil to get the whole thing moving in the machine. Really, really yummy. I really need to get another food processor.

11. Some natural stuff.
I get creamy, my SO gets crunchy, so we've got both in the house most of the time.

13. Deaf Smith smooth
unless I'm planning PB cookies, then it's the chunky stuff.

Natural peanut butter takes a little getting used to, but then if you try a jar of the commercial stuff, it's like trying to eat Crisco.

Besides, commercial peanut butter is beyond weird in Asian peanut sauces.

14. Other -- Trader Joe's
Unsalted, chunky.

When I lived in Boston there was a local brand, Teddie Peanut Butter, that was the best.

15. We use Adams Chunky
Edited on Thu Apr-27-06 11:56 AM by The empressof all
I get it in the big tubs....Yet we always seem to be running out. I use it quite a bit in Peanut butter Tofu dip. I process a hunk of tofu with about a cup of peanut butter and some garlic. (depending on the day-I'll add a little oil to lighten it a little) It's great on cauliflower and broccoli.

17. Peter Pan smooth. Our youngest, at age four asked, as she sat in the cart
in the crowded peanut butter aisle, "Mommy, are you a choosy mother?"

The other shoppers snapped their heads in our direction, all having huge smiles. I said, "Yes. I'm very choosy," as I took the PP from the shelf.

20. Try cashew butter, pure luxury
Westbrae foods used to make my favorite, cashew, peanut and date butter with little chunks of dried dates. It was heavenly, but I haven't seen it for years.

27. Okay, I finally voted
Skippy smooth. It has been my peanut butter since I was a kid.

Does anyone recall the teevee show they sponsored? You Asked For It? The Skippy label would open up like a camera lens' iris to start each segment. The sharted in the ***very**** early days of teevee ... like maybe 1951 or so ... and ended, I'm pretty sure, before 1960.

29. Y'all are going to think I'm odd, but I like the store brands.
They're not as sweet as the kinds packaged for children (like Skippy, Jif and Peter Pan) and have more of a roasted peanut flavor.

Unfortunately, with a sweet-toothed husband and a 7 year old son, I'm generally outvoted in favor of Jif in the peanut butter department.

Oh - and creamy or smooth - I like them all. :)
