I'm noticing the ads above & there was one for 'award winning olive oil'. I clicked on it (but only after I had clicked on the 'cooking classes in Tuscany' one & lived vicariously). Anyhow, I click on the olive oil one & it looks good & they also sell a buffalo milk mozzarella cheese. I thought that would be so cool & I would order both. The prices were reasonable. But no info on shipping costs until I entered my order and my credit card info. I'm not giving credit card info before I'm sure I'm going to buy.
Why can't these companies give shipping costs? Some are totally outrageous & I won't have anything to do with them. I know that fresh cheese will probably require 1 or 2 day air. Some companies charge exactly what fedex or ups would charge. Others tack on horrible surcharges & I won't deal with them.
Bummer.

1. I was thinking about shipping costs just yesterday |
|
After reading the paprika thread, I wanted to try some mild smoked paprika. So I went hunting for it on the web. I can understand that shipping costs are high these days. But I pull back when an item costs more to ship than the item itself. I'll check my local markets and specialty shops when I happen to be nearby before I get it via mail order.
I've seen companies on the web where you have to enter your credit card info before you learn the shipping cost. At least you see the shipping before the order is finalized. But still. I wonder if the data gets stored after I enter it and go to that next to the last step.

3. But eleny had a good point & that's why I was hesitant to order. |
|
The site might hold my credit card info or it might not. I had no way of knowing.
Do you list shipping charges before people order or after?
I'm sorry, but I've seen to many on-line & catalog companies absolutely screw folks over shipping charges. I won't order unless I know that the charges are fair.

maybe most software that handles transactions are like that. i hope so. the best situation is where you put something in your cart and then can figure up the shipping by entering a zip code. that gives shipping and tax.

I don't mind paying shipping and handling, but I want to know what they are *before* I buy.
