Tony Bourdain now in Cyprus
Another entry from "Off The Broiler" blog:

"More news from Reuters:

ON BOARD THE USS NASHVILLE, July 20 (Reuters) - Lying on a green army cot as a U.S. navy ship spirits him away from violence-stricken Lebanon, American television food show host Anthony Bourdain says his heart is broken. ...

...But Bourdain said his efforts to leave Lebanon had not been easy, frustrated by unanswered telephone calls to the embassy and a “horror show” at a beach outside Beirut where they had gathered before U.S. Navy and marines whisked 1,052 Americans to the ship by landing craft and then on to nearby Cyprus."

1. I'm liking this guy even more
and I liked him a lot before.

He's pissed and sad about the chaos .... good .... he needs to get heard.

(Not 'good' that he's been through this, but good that he might speak out a bit about it.)

2. If you have read any of his books, he admits repeatedly
he has VERY liberal leanings. I am currently started on his new book, Nasty Bits.

Monday night's show was particularly fun.

3. I'm on the waiting list for that book at my library
I've read a bunch of novels and I've got the One Percent Solution here on my desk. But I knew I needed something completely different. So I got on the wait list for Nasty Bits. I can hardly wait.

4. Tony Bourdain is a hoot! I loved his show on The Food Network...
He was both passionate about what he enjoyed and also very entertaining... I'm very relieved to hear that he's safe, though I'm not at all surprised that he ended up there, and also pleased to learn that he's one of us. That doesn't surprise me, either. Thanks for posting this.:-)
