What do you make when walking outside is enough to make you sick to your stomach? Nothing is sitting well on my tummy and the weather is making me not want to leave the house.

Do I need to actually learn how to make a jello salad?

1. I like jello.
Maybe with some Mandarin oranges and a scoop of cottage cheese? Whatever works, ya know....

Tonight I made a salad of baby greens with avocado, sprouted beans (crunchy!), tomato and a scoop of canned turkey and mayo (this is better than it sounds). It hit the spot on a hot and humid day.

3. Smoothie for lunch, smoothie for breakfast....
Mangoes, yogurt, juice and whatever other fruit we have in the house (and a scoop of fiber powder... :eyes: )... My blender is working serious overtime this week.

This week has been the first week in the decade I've lived up here that I really felt like I lived in the Midwest (which I technically do). It's great for tomatoes and zucchini (I've had several 5+ pounders that were not bread quality) but not so good for the humans.

4. if your body is telling you it's not hungry listen to it
drink lots of water and just a few nuts or trail mix to keep your electolites balanced

i can't remember the last time I ate three meals in one day and a juice fast won't hurt anyone for a couple days

hope the weather improves for you though

5. mixed message body.
Blood sugar goes way low, so I'm headachey and shaky which brings on some nausea in addition to the heat nausea...

I want a refund on this body. It's not working right!

How's things in the great sandy?

7. gazpacho
Soup is comfort food for me, and gazpacho is my favorite chilled soup. I make chilled fruit soups too but I realize that if your tummy is acting up neither of these idea would hold much appeal.

Jello salad sounds good.

8. We have had "antipasto" dinners quite often lately
julienned raw veggies, dips, cheese cubes, salami, ham & turkey from the deli..and that's IT!

Easy to clean up after, filling and healthy too :)

9. Don't "make" anything. Just eat ice cream.

10. I, too, am thinking yogurt for you
And maybe scrambled eggs with some cheese. Or poached eggs on toast. How about a milkshake? You gotta keep those blood sugar swings away, and a complex carbohydrate would sure help. Maybe some steamed new potatoes and veggies done in the microwave? Just wrap your raw veggies in a damp paper towel and zap for three minutes or 'til done.

11. Fruit, salads,
cold cereal, smoothies. You have a number of options where you don't have to turn the stove on. Do try to eat at least a little something. And drink plenty of water.

12. Yogurt. Watermelon. Seafood salad. Pasta salad.
Potato salad. Cole slaw. Cucumbers and radishes thinly sliced with a miso dressing. Sweet tea by the gallon. Taboule. French bread slices topped with applesauce.

I sympathise. NM has stayed in the 90s for weeks now, and the thunderstorms bringing such desperately needed rain also mean the swamp cooler isn't working as efficiently as it does when it's dry.

13. Last night I cooked one cup of fresh, pitted cherries
with one cup of water and about 1/4 C sugar, after it boiled for about 4-5 min., I added in another 1/4 C water with I pkg. of softened unflavored gelatine, and stirred until it dissolved. At that point, I added another 3 C. of pitted cherries, stirred it up, then stuck it into the refrigerator to chill. If you're going to learn to make jello salad, try this one. The flavor is pure and the texture of the fruit maintains its full integrity. Yummmm. (I finished this by mounding it in a home made tart shell that had been painted with melted chocolate. My guests went wild!)

15. I've been making this with blueberries for years
using almond bark to paint the crust. It is a voluptuous dessert for sure, but the filling is fat-free and can be easily adapted for sugar-free too for diabetics. Next time I'll try to get a photo!
