Bagel Squares??/ Has anyone else tried these?

Bread that is a like a square, flatish roll, but with a taste like a bagel .... frankenbread or a good idea?

I'm going to try some instead of seeded rye with my Costco pastrami tonight.

2. They discontinued making the date nut loaf
I was addicted especially around holiday time. I think I hate them now. Ben & Jerry got rid of Festivus ice cream and Thomas's did away with the date nut loaf (with cream cheese----OMG) There is nothing sacred in the world. :scared:

Besides bagels in a plastic bag regardless of the shape is just not American.

3. Sparkly's still pissed at Safeway, years after they stopped making a
Safeway Select ice cream flavor she liked. To this day she walks by the ice cream case looking for it.

Does that make her a stalker?????

Thomas' doesn't bill these as bagels ... just 'bagelish' (is that a word?). I already bought one bag of them and they were pretty good, actually, for what they are.

4. This might be an acceptable substitute:
It's moist, you can substitute whatever you'd like (pumpkin for banana, or dates, I'd imagine) and it's delish with cream cheese. I also remember that date nut bread; it was heavenly.

Here's one of my mom's old recipes that I love:

It's a recipe for pumpkin bread but I know I've made banana bread using it. Also, this bread freezes well, makes 3 loaves (so the oil is distributed), and is a nice house gift (I make it a lot during the holidays).

3-1/2 cps sifted flour
2 t. baking soda
1-1/2 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
1 t. allspice (optional)
3 cps sugar
1 cp. veg. oil
4 eggs
2/3 cp. water
1-1# can pumpkin
1-1/4 cups chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
Blend well. Pour into 3 greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

5. Thanks I've bookmarked this
I'll be trying it at Christmas time with the dates and will report back. I may add some figs too for moisture.

8. just bought some today, oddly enough
I thought they looked like fun. I'm a sucker for new products, although we try to stay away from many processed foods.

Another new product I like is the new crackers called "Toppers" that are made with an indentation where you can put a big smear of artichoke dip or whatever else you like on crackers. The herb and garlic flavor is tasty.
