We've been watching Feasting on Asphalt, Alton Brown's exploration |
|
"of the history of eating on the move." Here's an explanation of the premise: http://www.altonbrown.com/adventure/press_pages/press_feasting.htmlAfter watching him the other night, I noticed he bears a strong resemblance to Donald Rumsfeld. If there's ever a movie, Alton could fill the bill.

I loves me some AB, and you may have tainted that now :(
(kidding -- no way he could ever resemble rumsferatu. unless he starts interrogating himself during a show, ok, I can imagine him doing that...)
"Will I cook an egg tonight? Yes, I will cook an egg tonight. Will it be soft-boiled or scrambled? That depends. Sometimes I like them soft-boiled, such as in the spring, and the summer, and the fall. But in the winter I like 'em scrambled. Will I consult anyone about how to prepare these eggs? No, I won't. Should I consult anyone? Maybe, but that's a judgement call I'm willing to make...."
Yeah, I can imagine it.

The best thing about leaving the south is not having to confront stuff like that. Gag time.

It's great getting his expertise and knowledge out of his kitchen and on the road, especially getting exposure for those little mom-and-pop local establishments. Death to the Applebees of the world!

7. I'm with you. When I first visited NM |
|
to see if it was a place I could stand living in, I stayed in funky indie motels (one was featured on PBS on a show about funky motels a few years later) and ate in hole in the wall, mom and pop type restaurants.
It was great.
