It's official. It's fall. Bllue Bunny's cinnamon ice cream was
in the freezer section of the grocery store this morning. It comes out once a year--in the fall. Time for my favorite fall dessert.

Two scoops of said cinnmon ice cream topped with a couple of tablespoons of your favorite apple pie filling or fried apples (warmed up, of course), a drizzle of caramel topping, and a liberal sprinkling of granola or your favorite streusel topping.

When BB cinnamon ice cream disappears from the market, fall is over, and I quit buying ice cream until springtime.

I have never heard of Bunny's brand. Is it regional? I'm in N. California....I will look for it!

3. Blue Bunny ice cream is made in Iowa. I used to know someone
who worked for them making up flavors. They come up with some really funky stuff upon occasion. This summer they had a great double strawberry and a double peac flavor too. I like their peach because it's made with buttermilk. I don't know how widely Blue Bunny distributes but they do have a website. Their cinnamon flavor has become a tradition in this household and we look forward to its appearance in the fall.

I did note that one of the other national brands also had a cinnamon coffeecake ice cream on the shelf too, but I can't recall which brand it was.

2. Fall started last week
The chile roasters were in operation outside the supermarket and the fragrance of roasting green chile fills the air around here.

Since nobody can burn leaves outside any more, that is a great substitute.

4. I went to LeMars a couple of years ago
The home of Blue Bunny! Didn't tour the factory, but really enjoyed the little store they have there. The local apple orchard here sells the most wonderful apple turnovers. Cinnamon ice cream would be perfect with them.
