Any one else here who does not like the flavor of canola oil? |
|
So many recipes have it in them now. I don't like the taste of canola or the smell of it cooking at all. I usually just substitute either corn oil or olive oil.

I'm no fan of canola oil either. I'm with you all the way... corn oil or olive oil. None of this canola stuff in my kitchen.

heartburn for HOURS. Also, I'm not nuts about the flavor, either.
If I need a very light oil, it's safflower or peanut. Otherwise, it's oilive, all the way.

5. I didn't put two and two together until you mentioned this recently |

It does the same to us, too. I keep olive oils and peanut oil handy. Since I've been substituting them for the canola, we're better.

Whenever a recipe calls for canola, that's what I substitute, except on the exceedingly rare occasions when I deep-fry chicken or falafel balls, in which case I go for cheap, one-use, disposable, whichever is on sale, and sometimes it's canola.
