2. Leg of Lamb and one hamburger |
|
The lamb is for my family and a few guests that are coming over, the hamburger is for me. I really do not like lamb, but everyone else likes/wants it so I'm gonna make it THIS ONE TIME.
I've never made lamb before. I have no idea which recipe I'm going to use yet or what to pair with it for side dishes.
I just started googling around/looking in my books and thought I'd give trusty ole' DU a look to see if there were any lamb recipes/menus here and *voila* I saw your thread. Hope you get a lot of menu ideas.
How many people are you having? Do your guests like everything, except ham? Are there many/any little children in the group? My quick thoughts for you without having any additional information:
Roasted chicken (it's probably too late to do turkey) Beef Tenderloin (good, but very pricey) Salmon (quick and elegant looking, but everyone has to like fish)

3. We have the picky eaters' club-- |
|
no ham because spinny's boyfriend won't eat it. No lamb because he won't eat that either. No beef. Guess why??
Pilaf is great with lamb. Maybe some steamed green beans or asparagus?

5. yeah, regarding beef - I'm not really gonna have a hamburger |
|
I know/understand what you're sayin'....as much as I love beef, I just can't "do it" anymore (have avoided it for quite a long time now). Avoiding beef with mad cow disease is kinda like choosing to have 'safe sex' with food, right? The "industry" won't even allow testing for those who are willing/able to test for it.....so one must assume that all beef is HIV (mad-cow) positive then and the prudent will avoid it.
but I'm not gonna eat that lamb that's for sure. Grilled cheese sandwich? An omelet....that's a real possibility......
Happy Easter, btw.

We wanted to keep it simple and we're having a variety of guests dropping in all day. So we're just having fruit tray, veggie tray, crackers and cheese, and chicken salad wraps. Oh, and deviled eggs of course.

We use the recipe for Alton Brown's "Who loves ya baby back" ribs. They're a bit fiddly and take some time, but it's the best recipe I've found. To go with them, I'm making buttermilk biscuits, baked beans, and a napa-and-carrot salad.

12. Just the two of us... |
|
Truffle oil-basted Roast Chicken with Cornbread-Mushroom stuffing, steamed asparagus, mashed potatoes and gravy; purple leaf lettuce salad with tomatoes, artichoke hearts, chick peas, and onion. No bread, no dessert, my birthday was Friday and I've already eaten my calories for the week!

Okay -- it's just regular chicken shawarma.
It's just my wife and I today, so we can eat whatever we want!

with baby spinach and baby spring greens, a fuji apple chopped small, dried cranberries, chopped pecans, green onions, and crumbled gorgonzola cheese with a soy balsamic orange vinaigrette. It was yummy! Took it to my SIL's. She had everyone over.
The meal was artichokes dipped in melted butter, a veggie tray, a pork roast, asparagus, broccoli cheese and rice casserole, mashed potatoes with gravy, rolls and a cake my MIL made.
Everything was good but I ate lots of salad! LOL
So what did you decide to fix? Oh, I see...salmon! Yummy! How'd it go?

|
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 09:44 PM by The empressof all
It was just the three of us. I made some roast potatoes under the reheated bird. A bag of Caesar Salad, some Hawaiian rolls and fresh strawberries rounded out the meal. I bought a turtle ice cream cake which we'll have a little later with even MORE chocolate.
I was feeling lazy so I didn't fuss
