I love Hell's Kitchen just for those moments. The show is absolute crap, and doesn't teach you anything, but da-yum do they bring in the same old batch of useless cooks every season. And I love watching them crack under minimal pressure. Cook a serving of fish, don't screw it up. That's all that's asked, but it comes back RAAWW! or BURRNT!
Sorry, I thought there might be more HK viewers here.
and YES! MATT IS GONE! AWaahhh, they're picking on me! Has anyone reading this ever heard of an executive anything complaining about people picking on them?
I think all of these chefs suck, Ben was the best choice.

1. It's worth it just to see Gordon Ramsay's fits. |
|
He's a really smart and entertaining guy. I never watched Hell's Kitchen until this year, after I got to see his Kitchen Nightmares shows from the BBC and really grew to like them.
TOTALLY agree with you on being glad Matty is outta there. Oh what a whiny baby.
Of those that are left, I like Bobby, but Petrozza is kind of growing on me.

2. I hated Bobby at first, what with his talk of being a 4 Star General |
|
I'm ex-military, so it's a double peeve for me.
I hate Jen so much. Petrozza, yeah, he's a solid guy. He nominated himself to be voted out. Smart move.

3. Whole buncha losers this season, but I agree, Ben was the best |
|
I was surprised to see him go.
I really don't know who's going to win, none of them strike me as qualified

6. I like Kitchen Nightmares better |
|
He really tries hard to teach people how to run a restaurant properly, i.e. how to turn a profit. That usually boils down to hire competent people, treat them with respect, treat the customers well, have solid menu that isn't too fussy and not too over the top to cook in the first place, and voila... you have going concern.
It's amazing how many people he finds who are simply trying to do too much beyond their skill level. The guy that owned the pub and still wanted 18-piece table settings? In a PUB? :wtf:

7. Agreed. The Brit version is best. |
|
I know Hell's Kitchen is all drama, but it's fun to watch. It would be better if they brought in some people who could really cook, though. The clowns they drop first are obviously there just to screw up.

8. I loved the restaurant in Spain |
|
with the chocolate shrimp and banana chicken.
Sometimes creativity is not a good thing, especially when the chef is a heavy smoker with corroded tastebuds.
The pub owner with delusions of Escoffier was fun, too.

10. Yeah, some funny episodes |

it's amazing how these chefs were concocting dishes and never trying them.
Amazing!

9. As much as I thought I'd like this show |
|
it seems like crap. The star/teacher/head chef - whatever - is a jerk; there are head chefs like that in real life, but I wouldn't want to work for one. I'm sure he's vamping it up a bit for the show.
But the "chefs" who are in the group - where the f did they learn to cook? The few shows I've seen have them so lame - if they were beginners, first time in the kitchen or first time working a line, I'd understand, but purportedly they cook for a living. Can they not make frickin' orders come out on time?? I can understand getting into the weeds sometimes, but these guys are ridiculous. They're lost from the get-go.
Only saving grace - most restaurants do not have everyone come in at once, so they might not be used to that, but if nothing else, you still do it right, just not as fast. But for chrissakes, you'd think none of them ever worked in a restaurant before.

11. Shoot, I was watching Top Chef and missed the HK |
|
I agree with some folks upthread I liked Kitchen Nightmare's as well...I wait and watch on BBC America because our household has been boycotting Fox and ABC for a few years, we try VERY hard to not watch (and sometimes it means we miss shows we would like to see)
So, not to hijack, but I am rooting for Stephanie on Top Chef
