I can't seem to find alkalized cocoa (Dutch processed) anywhere anymore.
Did I miss something about it causing cancer, lol? Some recipes work better with it and I've been to 3 stores looking for it. Is it no longer popular enough to stock? It might be cheaper to order it online than driving around trying to find it.

Does anyone else use it and have trouble finding it?

1. Hershey's has a Special Dark Cocoa, Hershey's changed the label.
The label has the Dutch Processed at the top and at the bottom of the container "Special Dark" within a red banner. Hershey's is the only brand my store stocks.

It claims to be Dutch Processed, however it kinda has a strange purplish tint to it, both hubby and I noticed it.

Maybe you can ask your store manager if they can stock it for you. I've called my store (Kroger) several times to stock items for me, mostly frozen food items, and so far it has worked out.

Good Luck, lizerdbits

3. Aha, the label used to be silver
so maybe I'm missing it. Though if it's purplish, maybe I'll keep looking. Do your baked goods still taste OK?

5. Yep, everything still tastes great.
I've used it in cakes, frosting, and cookies and it doesn't effect the flavors at all.

6. I just made a chocolatae cake with it...
it tastes great, better than the one I made with Droste's a couple weeks ago (same recipe). The color is good, too, nice dark chocolate color.

2. Gourmet groceries
I've often found Droste's at courmet grocery stores. Trader Joe's carries (or used to carry) Van Leer's (or Van Houten's, I can't remember which). Sometimes stores like Whole Foods carry dutched cocoa.

4. I found Droste's at Whole Foods before
(still have a little left) but they don't seem to have it or any Dutch processed anymore. I also got a PM from someone else that there's a place not too far from me that carries it. A store I've never been to, must inspect for unusual goodies!
