I have to write down what I did RIGHT NOW before I forget and stick it in my journal

but you foodies can ignore it, it's a "What's for dinner, I'm exhausted and what do I need to use up" week night recipe

OK now let this sink like a stone

and :hi: everybody

Hamburger Strogonoff

1 lb burger
1 pound mushrooms
fresh basil, about 1/4 cup chopped
pepper
1/2 envelope of French Onion Soup mix
1 tsp beef au jus stuff
1/2 cup sour cream

served over mashed potatoes

1. Sometimes
on a work night, you do what you gotta do. Especially when you're tired.

Was wondering yesterday how you were doing. :hi:

2. Semi-Homemade. What's wrong with that?
I love to cook.
I have to work to buy the food I love to cook.
I have to leave my home to work to buy the food I love to cook.
Once I leave my home to work to buy the food I love to cook.....

I'm too tired to COOK!

So you open the refrigerator, pull stuff out, and sometimes you come up with something delicious that didn't take 5 hours to make.

Nothing wrong with that, occasionally.:-)

5. Just when I had decided to REALLY only eat "real" food a la
Michael Pollan's "In Defense of Food", you go and tempt me with this very yummy and easy dinner dish.

I alreadly allow myself "au jus stuff" aka Better Than Bouillon, even though it has more than five ingredients and probably some of them are unpronounceable.........I can overlook the definitely taboo French Onion Soup mix JUST THIS ONCE, lol.

I promise to do the mashed potatoes all homemade.

6. if I had had a can of beef broth I would have left out those two ingredients
Edited on Tue Jun-17-08 03:55 PM by AZDemDist6
so chop some onions and go for it. the 'au jus' stuff I have is VERY salty so I couldn't use much. with BtB and fresh onions it will be just as good or better even

and you will not have to sin..... too much

:pals:
