Puppodums
I keep a little box around - every once in a while (like once a year) I haul it out and make a few.

The box is cheap, and making them is easy - spray them with pam and microwave for 30 seconds or basically until it's puffed and there's no oily spot left.

If you're not familiar with them, it's like a spiced Indian puffed tortilla. I'm not exactly sure how else to describe them, but they're light, and often have mediterranean spices and are generally pretty yummy as a snack.

You can also deep-fry them - that would be the "official" way, but I found that spraying with Pam and microwaving is just fine. I tried brushing on oil like the directions suggest if not frying, but found it gets too soaked. Spraying with Pam makes it just right. Yummy snack in 30 secs.

3. Usually in the ethnic section
(Indian, of course)

A box looks like this:

and you get, um, about 16 per box. They're like little sheets of hard paper. There are different varieties - some spiced, some salt and pepper, some plain. The sheets break easily and you will invariably have broken sheets.

Either spray them with PAM on both sides and microwave for about 25 secs (until all the sheeting is puffed, and no oily area visible) or drop them in some hot oil to fry them. They fry up quick - we're talking seconds here, not minutes.

You'll end up with something like this:

They're fun-n-tasty to munch on, and they're a cheap treat.

Enjoy!

But then Indian food isn't one I've explore extensively, so no real surprise. Very interesting.
