My elitist ice cream scoop comes through again!
(For background: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x7433645)

I baked a yellow cake tonight that called for six egg yolks.

So, I made meringues out of the egg whites.

The "pipe the mixture onto the parchment-covered baking sheet" method did not go well.

The "two spoons" method also did not go well.

My one-ounce disher worked very very well.

I use it for cupcakes, pancakes, cookies, meatballs...even occasionally for ice cream.

I need to go to the restaurant supply store and get a few more in different sizes.

1. "Dishers" are one of the best-ever kitchen tools
They are handy for oh so many things! I even use one for drop biscuits... now that's handy! I love mine and like you, need a few more in different sizes. I get them at a food/restaurant supply place too, since every one I ever bought at mass merchandise stores I've managed to break on first or second use, and there are nice, sturdy stainless steel ones.

2. I have 3
Nothing will make that 4 dozen drop cookies go faster than the 2 TBS size, the smallest. The next size up is great for cupcakes and normal muffins and smallish pancakes. The next one up from that is great for jumbo muffins and big pancakes.

No, you don't need them. Yes, they will make a lot of jobs go a lot faster.

3. Been considering them
for cookies and muffins specifically. Warpy's right, don't need them, but I strongly suspect that they will make things so much easier.

Now if only I could get someone to go into the restaurant supply/gourmet cooking store for me.

4. I'll go
Mail me your credit card. I'll make sure I pick up what you're looking for, and I promise I won't buy a single other thing for you (but me, on the other hand....).

That way you can honestly say to hippyhub that all you bought for yourself were those dishers.
