The pasing of a great man
Milton Parker was a genius, and understood delicatessen food like no one else:

(Don't miss, under Comments, the one by Stu Shiffman.)

:::: sigh :::::

A typical Carnegie Deli sandwich, approximately the size of a ten-year-old's head:

2. Meh...Sorry to see him pass but his joint was for tourists
If you really want Deli you need to go to Katz's...Then stop off at Yonah Schimmels for knishes for later.

4. That's a lot bigger than the last time I was there...
and it's totally insane.

The sandwiches always used to be ginormous and you had to pick half the meat out of the middle before you could hold the damn thing, but this is ridiculous.

Anyway, yeah, I mourn the passing of good deli (Jewish, German, Polish... it's all good) and that for each deli lost, a new Subway rises in its place.
