Are you aware that regular peanuts are being recalled too

I was at the Safeway a few days ago and thought about grinding some of their organic peanuts into some peanut butter in their nut kiosk. I still had some left at home so didn't do it. So I get the FDA alert in my box today that the Organic Peanuts are now getting pulled. (As well as the regular ones)...... I get the FDA alerts and it looks like a great many protein bars are getting pulled as well as Trail Mixes, Bridge Mixes and Ice Creams with nuts.

2. It makes me wonder how paranoid we need to be

You often see baked good products with the labeling stating made in factory that uses nuts. I wonder if we're going to see the Oreo's getting pulled because they've been made on the same factory floor as the Nutter-Butters? I don't usually buy processed baked goods but I worry about my kid who is eating Food Service food at college. I've warned her and her room-mate is peanut allergic so she has a roll model. I suggested she only eat what her room mate eats for the time being.

I noticed alot of Asian (mostly Thai) sauces are getting pulled too. Peanuts are everywhere! And what's with the Organic stuff getting pulled? If they're processing Organic products without cleaning the equipment...yuck

3. I can't help wonder what's going on. Why would normal peanuts be effected

unless factory conditions are really bad, or there is something wrong in the nut itself. Probably a little tin foil hatty in my part, but it's certainly odd.

4. From what I understand the problem was in the processing factory

So the peanuts came into a bad factory for roasting before they were made into Peanut Butter. I'm disturbed that they were roasting the non organic on the same equipement as the organic. Why bother buying organic if the dust from chemically grown food was processed right before on the same equipment. I honestly never even considered this before. Peanuts, wheat, Applesauce etc.. are not going through a Koshering like cleaning on the equipment so it's possible residue is contaminating the Organic foods of all sorts. I'm a little tin foily too about this kind of stuff too-- but who can blame us after all this peanut stuff is shaking down.

6. Here's the notice about Whole Foods bulk stuff....

Check your pantry's too. Apparently they're recalling stuff that was manufactured even a few years back. I also got notice that Archer Farms (Target brand) is getting recalled

I'm on the FDA notification list and I'm getting about 20 notifications per day about this. Big brands and small brands...it's all pretty much suspect at this point.
