1. I could susbsist on leaves and fruit, cheerfully, if it were tomato and basil.

That was interesting. I've been doing a little geeky research lately on what foods were common to various times in history, but I'd never looked that far back! :)

3. We grow heriloom tomatoes and a couple kinds of basil every year.
I usually bring a pot of basil indoors for the winter too, but didn't get to it this year. I miss it.

Our garden space is pretty tiny, I crammed as much house as I could on a very small lot, but we always make rooms for tomatoes, herbs and peppers. I have two grocery store tomatoes that I finally put in the fridge so they wouldn't spoil becuae I just dont want them and i didn't want to throw them out. I'm spoiled. Nothing tastes like homegrown. I'll chuck them in a sauce soon. :)

5. I does sound really good right now. I'm craving light fresh foods a LOT.
My garden and I are in Gatlinburg TN. The tomatoes are in seed packets though. :(
Except for the bland one in the fridge.
