What's for Dinner? ~ Sunday the 15th Edition
Edited on Sun Feb-15-09 11:45 AM by Lucinda
We're going to be making a grocery store trip in a few, so I'm not sure yet.

I have some Ain5 thats been percolating for a couple of days, so there WILL be fresh bread.
And I've missed my salads the last couple of days, so I'm betting there will be a salad too. :)

What's for dinner where you are?

I saw in the original thread that you can't do peanuts. I used sunflower kernels because that's what I had and they work just fine.

8. I haven't been, though I plan to do it. I'm still using my big stainless bowl
Glad to know it does work to make the flavor better. They said it would. :D
I haven't been able to find a good 6 quart container, and I need my big bowl from time to time.
I LOVE that you're traveling with fresh bread and pans! Makes me smile.

10. I'm finally getting those pork chops into the oven
We had so many leftovers for the past few days. But they were all good, too.

Tonight it's green beans and baked potatoes on the side. I'm oven frying the chops after coating them in Italian style bread crumbs. Our favorite.

Hope your salads and the bread are yummy!

Last night we decided to make a grocery run kind of late. Hubby needed some Tylenol. We made a stop in the candy aisle and got some Mounds and a sack of M&Ms. I haven't had any yet but it's nice knowing there's a stash. :D That'll teach me to watch the chocolate sculpture competition on the Food Channel earlier in the day.

13. Foodnetwork was the death of me when we still had cable.
:)
I love baking chops. We do a brush of olive oil and italian seasonings but Italian bread crumbs sound really good. A little crunch is always yummy!

I'd kill for a mounds right now. Haven't had one in ages!

12. Roast chicken with roasted potatoes and
asparagus. For dessert there is a choice of strawberry trifle and baby brownies. (The dessert fare is left-over from this afternoon's book club gathering.

15. Sounds delicious. We do roasted veggies and chicken often.
I do a stuffed angel food cake with strawberries but I've never made trifle with them. Sounds really yummy.

18. Grass fed pork loin roast simmered in porter ale
4 sliced onions rendered down nicely. Added milk powder, corn starch and flour to thicken. Served with a side of yellow peppers and red onions sliced and stirfried, then simmered in a bit of sherry with tarragon.

Next week I'm going to use some pie crust hints I've accumulated here and make pot pies with the rest of the pork and gravy, with carrots, peas and corn added.

19. Gotta share this: Mediterranean Shrimp on a bed of Orzo
The orzo has spinach, pinenuts, feta, kalamata olives mixed in. The shrimp are sauteed for two minutes (not quite cooked) and then place on top of the orzo. In the pan I threw in diced tomatoes, garlic, hot pepper flakes, fresh basil - cook for a few, pour on top of the shrimp/orzo and bake for 10 minutes.

Orgasmic.
