I was thinking about this since I just bought a Madhur Jaffrey memoir, and I love Ruth Reichl. Some food writers have the literary gift, and I wondered if you folks had some favorites. There's an American woman who lived in France, and I'm too lazy to run upstairs and get the book. I don't think it was Francine du Plessix Gray, although her books are great, recipes or no.

That's who I was thinking of I loved her With Bold Knife and Fork and other books.
I like best the food writers who write like essayists and short story writers...
