I FINALLY returned my unused nonstick madeleine pan to Williams-Sonoma.
My dear well-meaning sister gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago and I have NEVER used it even once, and realized I was never going to. So off I went to W-S yesterday. I was a woman with a plan.

I came home with my brand new Wusthof paring knife, retail price $40, but I only had to shell out about $20. Nyah nyah nyah! ROFL. And I had just that day sold an unused small solar panel on CL so I was up $35 to start.

And to my credit, I did NOT cut the shit out of myself when I used it for the first time this AM to cut my grapefruit for breakfast. That sucker is SHARP.

Note: this was NOT a frivolous purchase. My existing paring knive (Chicago Cutlery) had a wooden handle that was starting to crumble - it was probably 25 yrs old anyway. Now I have a real beauty with a composite handle and full tang. Yeehaw!!!

1. Excellent choice.
I think thats the brand I gave as a gift, and years later, when a friend damaged the tip (funny story) I returned to replace, and they merely exchanged: LIFETIME guarantee!

2. I think I gave my BIL one a few years ago for Christmas (he's the
family chef and my sister tipped me off that he really needed a replacement parer).

3. A good knife is essential. And one at a bargain rocks!

4. I've lived a long time without a nonstick madeleine pan.
I always cut myself ONCE with each new knife. But it takes a week, so be careful.

5. I've got the triple antibiotic ointment and butterfly bandages in the medicine cabinet.
But I think I'll move them into the kitchen for now.

And yeah, I like that I swapped out something virtually useless for something I will use every day and probably for the rest of my life.
