I found a really good product |

this week at Whole Foods. I had to have a colonoscopy yesterday and could only have liquids on Thursday. So I picked up some chicken broth. They had organic chicken broth in a three pack of tetra pack boxes for only $1.99. Each individual box is only 8.45 oz which is a good size for me. Only cooking for two I sometimes waste about half of a large container of chicken broth when I need just a little for something and then don't need it for anything else. I put it in the fridge thinking I'll use it soon and there it sits. Yes, I know I could freeze it but for some reason it never ends up that way.
Like tonight, I just snapped a bunch of green beans from the garden for our dinner. I cubed a little bit of a ham steak and browned it in the pan and then used a little of the broth to deglaze the pan before adding the beans. After streaming the beans for a little while in that little bit of liquid with the ham, I added the rest of the of broth with my seasonings and have them cooking the rest of the way now. It smells really, really good. :9
I thought it was a pretty good idea since it came in portions I can actually use.
Edited to add it's their 365 store brand.

1. I usually hate overpackaging |
|
but I use the individual chicken broth servings and have done so for some time now. It makes more sense to pay for a little additional packaging than it does to toss half a box of broth a week.

I would gladly pay a little more for smaller portions of some things. It was more of an issue when I was single and didn't cook much at all than it is now but there are still some things I only need a little of and I only have so much freezer space.

Oh my, hippywife. I have missed you. No wonder you didn't post so much lately! I hope you get well quickly!
A family member had similar, then surgury, then reverse surgery and now feels better than ever. Hope you can feel that good, as well!

Sweetie, I had a colonoscopy, not a colostomy. They were just checking things out to see why I was bleeding. It was only due to my diverticulitis and is very easily remedied, everything else is fine.

Glad to hear that bit of info - I mis-read. Even so, I had that same test years ago and that's no picnic in the park.
I just recall getting very drugged up but still conscious while they used a hose longer than my whole self is tall. Quite unpleasant. Hope they make it a bit better these days.
Best wishes to you feeling better! :hi:
