1. What is the texture of the cookie?
I lost a recipe for Ranger Cookies which sounds similar to this. The cookie I made stayed puffy like the ones you show but they were very crisp not chewy.

2. They are a very sturdy oatmeal cookie

because I used a less processed oatmeal. They're pretty dense and chewy.

As far as Ranger cookies go, I think they don't come out well unless they're made with shortening, which I don't use anymore, and are thin rather than puffed. One of the ladies at work made some using lard and lordy were they the best ever.
