Found in my mother's recipes -
Edited on Fri Jul-17-09 11:22 PM by Tangerine LaBamba
I have no idea where she found this, but I've fixed it a whole bunch of times, and, after a lifetime of trying different peanut sauces, I can say unequivocally that this is the best I've ever tasted.

I fix a quadruple batch and stash it in jars in the refrigerator. Usually it requires water to thin it when you're ready to use it, but, otherwise, it's perfection personified.

It's not just great on noodles, it's also terrific on grilled eggplant slices, or on a chicken or shrimp salad, and it's really wonderful with Summer Rolls.....................

PEANUT SAUCE

1/3 Cup peanut butter
3 Tbs. rice wine vinegar
3 Tbs. water
1 Tb. soy sauce
1 tsp. sesame oil
1 garlic clove, pushed through a press
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
2 Tbs. chopped fresh cilantro

1. That looks Awesome T la B
I'm going to try this one this week when I get the new supply of Powdered Peanut Butter. (I know, I know but it's actually pretty decent and loads less fat) I'm going to sub the sugar with Agave which will make it a bit more sticky which in this case would be a good thing. No cilantro for us though!

2. You know,
my mother's original recipe used "1/2 packet of sweetener" - she was always on a diet - and I just translated it.

But, now, reading your post, it occurs to me that 1/2 pack of sweetener - she used Equal - would be the equivalent of 1 tsp of sugar, not 1/2, since those packets that she used were the equivalent of 2 tsps.

Mea culpa. But, you know you'll adjust it all to your own taste.

And I've never heard of powdered peanut butter, but why not?

This just might be dinner tonight, tossed with some thin spaghetti, cold shrimp, cold peas, chopped scallions, and whatever else is in the refrigerator.

Or I just might have a diet Coke.

No cilantro won't, I think, affect the essential flavors. They are the nicest combination................

3. The PB2 is my current "weakness"
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 03:56 PM by The empressof all
It has far less fat and actually tastes pretty good in recipe's and even mixed with sugar free chocolate syrup. I get it from the company but you need to buy a few jars at a time. I use it in PB/banana smoothies.

Netrition will let you buy a jar at a time.

It's a  from me

4. That is a fascinating product.
What is Netrician? Another website?

Please share how you make a PB/banana smoothie - I'm pretty sure my husband would be a big fan. I'm trying to improve both our diets.

5. The PB2 is a terrific alternative to reg. PB
Netriton.com is a site I use quite frequently for lower carb/gluten free products. They are a terrific source for stuff that I can't buy locally and have decent shipping costs.

For one smoothie I blend two tablespoons of the PB2, about 8 oz of skim milk and a half a frozen banana. That counts as a protein and fruit for me. It's rich and satisfying with under 200 calories. You of course can add chocolate syrup if you like or some Swiss Miss Diet Cocoa. Of course if you can spare the calories go ahead and throw caution to the wind and use the whole damn banana! It would add about 60 more calories and would be even more yummier :).

The PB2 with Chocolate is good too but not really chocolatey enough for me so I mix it with sugar free chocolate sauce. It's almost as good as nutella that way.

6. Thanks for all the great info.
I am going to order and make a smoothie!

I think the PB2 would be an excellent hurricane pantry food as well.
