My Brita Water Filter unceremoniously blew itself .....

My Brita Water Filter unceremoniously blew itself .....
..... right off my faucet.

No warning. It simply let go. The cheap plastic threads on this Cheap Chinese Crap of an item let go of the metal threads on the faucet.

I went out today and bought a Pur. Similar item. Probably also in the same broad category of Cheap Chinese Crap, but at least the damned threads are metal and twice as deep. It took a nice secure grip on the faucet. I am assuming (hoping, actually) that this will hold better than the Brita.

Anyone need some Brita filters? I have two. Unopened. You can have them for the cost to ship them. PM me.

1. I'm not going to say anything,
not me. I'd be the last one to say anything as crass as "Well, I recommended the Pur when you were shopping," because I'm not that kind of LaBamba.

My prediction - you won't have ANY trouble with the PUR.

And, if you do, just email them and tell them what went wrong. They'll send you a certificate (snail mail) good for a brand new one, at the retail outlet of your choice.

I've had a faucet filter for years and years, and twice, they developed drips. Not terminal, but annoying, and both times, they sent me those certificates. An excellent company to deal with.

Sorry about your blown filter, seriously, Stinky. Wasting $$$ sucks.

You should email Brita, and see if they do the same thing as Pur........................

No, I would NEVER think of you as that sort of LaBamba.

Not me. Nhut-uh.

We have had a Litter Maid litter box for years. A few months back, the third one we owned gave up the ghost in what I thought was an unreasonably short time out of the box.



I called the manufacturer. I was told, basically, tough shit. I had owned it just a little over the one year warranty period. I was in no mood for a "tough shit". Long story short, I escalated up the line and finally got them to mail me a new unit after I sent them a photo of the circuit board with serial number, removed from the old unit, and broken in half.

I can always use a second filter.

4. That was easy!
A new Brita with a metal adapter insert is wending its way toward Casa di Stinky.

Took all of two minutes on the phone. They don't wanna lose those filer sales. No doubt they give the base units away for free gladly.

but isn't it fine to have two filter apparati now?

Never hurts to axe, not ever. I always figured, when I was practicing law, that when the other side said "No," that serious negotiations had finally begun.....................................

We've had a Pur now for 5-6 years. Same one, still humming along just fine.

I knew there was a reason I didn't want an automated cat box, besides the fact that it's just a way to rope you into buying and re-buying all the supplies over and over and over...

9. The cat box really hasn't been expensive to maintain.
We just buy litter for it. The cat shit goes into a plastic bin that one is supposed to cap and dispose of. By the time one takes it out, one could just as easily empty it into a sack and put it in the trash. So, for us, one of those disposable bins can easily last 6 months or more.

True enough, we've replaced the entire litter box a few times, but it is not that big a deal.

7. Oh Jeeeeeze "guys"
This is one of those kitchen toys I can't accommodate...My faucet is the kind that pulls out and sprays (which is totally nifty in and of itself) so I can't have a filter attached :(

But I'd buy one if it could! :hi: My goal in life is to at least try every kitchen gadget/tool every made!

The end result is the same from either the faucet jobbie or the pitcher.

11. I had one of the pitchers for a while
I've gotten use to using the fridge filter for drinking water....It's hard to fill up a pot to boil but I figure Meh....Our tap water is pretty good here and what in it will get boiled out.
