The 2500 foot diet
Staying the weekend at SIL's place in coastal Oregon. She made a great clam chowder with clams they dug a couple of days ago and fingerling potatoes straight from the garden. (Cheating witn a little crumbled bacon--from within the state, but definitely farther away than a half a mile.)

YUM!!

1. That sounds wonderful!
I would love to have a clam chowder that fresh. One of my favorites and I bet it tastes like no other.

:hi:

2. There's no way to do that diet here in the desert
not even if you develop a taste for cockroaches, lizards, and the poisonous cactus varieties.

Mostly, we're on the Mexican diet combined with the things that can be cultivated here: beans, corn, and chile.
