1. I keep edamames in the freezer, too
I worry about them a little bit, because Trader Joe's stopped carrying them because the only source they could find was China, and I don't know where these came from. I bought them at Safeway.

I'm taking my chances, because they are quite handy for impromptu stir fry.

I wish I could eat soba noodles. Too many carbs, though.

Bittman's dish has everything I really like, except I might have added a shake of sesame seeds.

2. Thanx for the reminder.
I love noodles more than I do rice but I always forget to pick them up when I'm thinking stir fry. I think Bill prefers the rice, but he can live with noodles occasionally.

3. Have you ever tried swapping out the rice/noodles for Israeli couscous?
My husband was the innovator of that switcheroo in our household. It goes surprisingly well with Asian dishes and is great under curries.
